As far as fantastic wedding venues to photograph in Bristol go, Leigh Court is a dream for us as wedding photographers. In terms of sheer variety Bristol weddings can be pretty diverse as there are so many beautiful locations for wedding receptions and marriage ceremonies. It offers some really great photographic choices for your wedding. The staff are a dream to work with. Professional and down to earth. And there always feels like there is plenty of room, even with huge weddings, there is space to breathe and enjoy the day. Photographing weddings at such a grand location opens up all sorts of possibilities – from beautifully classical photographic wedding scenes, to informal ‘of the moment’ or reportage images which are set against the classical grandeur of the Bristol Georgian architecture. I hadn’t been to this venue before but was absolutely blown away when I walked through the grand entrance. Leigh Court is a multi-purpose venue whch caters for weddings, but you’d never know – I thought this was a dedicated wedding venue! The first thing which struck me was the staff – friendly, polite, professional – a really welcome start. I’d arrived about an hour early to meet a couple getting married there next year. Not wanting to waste time and eager to have a good look around I was given a short tour by the reception staff (again, lovely people) and then allowed to take photograhs of the amazing rooms and architecture. In a building which is this old (1814) it’s quite normal to see signs of decay, but I was overwhelmed to see that almost every piece of ceiling moulding, cornice or pillar were immacutaly well kept and restored – it is in really fantastic condition.
Although it was raining hard when I visited the sun came out for just long enough to capture some blue sky photographs of the outside. It is a classical building in the Paladian style and is just crying out for every approach a wedding photographer may choose to take. The grounds are extensive and offer ample opportunity for classic formal group phtography against the back drop of the bath stone building.
