Highlights from Mary & Mik’s wedding at Llanerchaeron

Setting off bright and early I crossed the Severn Bridge heading West enroute to photograph Mary & Mik’s wedding at Llanerchaeron. As I entered Wales I detoured away from the motorway and journeyed through the beautiful snow capped Breacon Beacons – I kept rolling until I hit Pembrokeshire and the stunning coastline of West Wales. On my journey in through the countryside I was joined by an amazing American yellow Chevy some 10 miles out and I followed it in to Aberystwyth. Remembering that Mik had told me about the surprise he had planned for Mary this had to be it! After a quick breakfast I joined them getting ready at Harry’s Hotel in Aberystwyth. Mary’s Mum helped her in to her dress whilst Mik’s Best Man was on hand to keep an eye out for that Chevy – the roar of it’s engine could so easily have given the game away. Mik had already been for a ‘wedding fancy-dress’ run that morning with his friends from the Sanbach Striders, who of course swapped their trainers, lycra and wigs for more suitable wedding attire later on.

Now I’m all about emotion and people, but how could I not mention Mary’s brilliant shoes – on loan for the day from their ‘shoeseum’. Once we’d arrived at Llanerchaeron we went for a walk around the house and gardens, and in a twist from the norm their creative photo shoot was done before they got married. Just in case anyone thought I’d put the photo’s in the wrong order! It was then back to the stables for their beautiful, intimate wedding ceremony with three delightful readings including the beautiful ‘He Wishes For The Cloths Of Heaven’ by W B Yeats. And yes I had a tear in my eye. After drinks, nibbles and an evening photo shoot at the main house, I waved farewell to them as they travelled back to Aberystwyth to party the night away.
