Weddings at Cadbury House Bristol
Cadbury House offers some exciting areas for creative wedding photography
The Doubletree Cadbury House is a hotel and spa, and a really popular wedding venue. It’s close to Bristol and close enough to Bath for easy access for wedding guests. We’ve shot a number of weddings here – some where the wedding ceremony itself is at the hotel and some where local churches have been used – returning to Cadbury House for the reception. As it’s a hotel it’s a great venue if your guests are coming a long way for your wedding – everything you need is contained there, so it’s ‘easy’ in that respect!
There are limited grounds outside of the main building; a slabbed patio area extending from the main resteraunt area is popular for post ceremony drinks, and a ‘tiki hut’ further down offers views over the surrounding countryside and an opportunity for alternative photographs of brides and grooms. There is an attractive ‘old’ frontage and grassed area which is the main area used for formal group wedding photographs – it’s easy to get to from the main bar, which helps limit the amount of time needed to ensure formal photographs are taken (guests really appreciate this!).
Inside Cadbury House the decor is smart / formal / hotel. They can have two weddings taking place at the same time, as the building offers large rooms at either end of the complex, though I’ve never seen this actually happen. At one end of the building is the main wedding breakfast room, it’s a large airy room with a facinating wall of stone/boulders built into it at one end, with natural light flooding in from about – makes for great small group shots if the weather is letting you down. It also extends out on to a terrace where a drinks and a hog roast can be enjoyed. Again, more greta opportunities for candid shots. A wooden staircase in the middle of the building can also be used for more creative bridal or individual photographs.
