Evening Engagement Photo Shoot in Bath, Somerset
Yesterday I joined Nadia & David for their evening engagement photo shoot in the City of Bath, Somerset. As many of you know I love creating photographs in low light and I really wanted the best of both words for this lovely couple. So I worked out the timings so that we should enjoy some golden light just as the sun went down. Bath looks fantastic in the evening sun as it turns the Georgian stonework a beautiful golden colour. It was a bit of a gamble as the weather had been so awful earlier in the day (I’d been caught in a thunderstorm photographing bluebell woods with Portra 400!). But fortunately the Photo God’s thought I’d got wet enough earlier and were now smiling on me. The weather not only held for us but threw us deep blue skies and that evening light I was so hoping for. During their engagement photo shoot we walked the old streets of Bath, stopping wherever I found amazing and dynamic light. The first photo below was captured at the back of the Bath Thermae Spa – the amazing three storey high glass walls were reflecting the last of the blue sky and I noticed it contrasted beautifully with the golden colour of the stone next to it, all I needed to do was add Nadia & David and don’t they both look great! Even a tattoo shop got in on the act, when I saw a really iconic black, white and red poster in it’s window. I was thrilled to spend the evening with these two and I’m so looking forward to photographing them again with their family and friends at their wedding at Howard’s House Hotel, Teffont Evias, which is now only weeks away. Thanks to Claire Duggan for her superb help with lighting, as ever.
