Quantock Lakes wedding photography – Molly and Jon
These two are totally adorable, super talented and SO, SO in love. The connection they shared throughout the day, the little squeezes of the hand and the huge smiles on their faces were just EVERYTHING! I met them at the Bristol wedding show and connected with them instantly, their energy and enthusiasm were infectious!
Thank you, Rich, for being so brilliant and also just being a really fun person to have with us on the day!
Molly and Jon – Wedding at Quantock Lakes
Molly is a truly amazing acrobatic aerialist performer, honestly the bendiest person I have ever met! And her shiny new husband, Jon, is an award-winning juggler and comedian. If you are in the Bristol area, you definitely need to go and see his Variety Bungalow show, which I’ve already been to see for myself – Brilliant! Let’s just say I could tell this wedding would be a fun one before it even started! Here are just a few highlights from their super happy, totally awesome wedding at Quantock Lakes.
Getting ready
Molly was getting ready in the bridal suite with the lovely Maria Lucas sprinkling her magic with hair and make-up as the hustle and bustle of the day began. I love using pockets of light in award-winning wedding photos, and this room had my creative brain working overtime. Check out that dreamy sunlight on Molly as she was having her make-up done!
Molly’s Morgan Davies wedding dress looked amazing on her, the way the sunlight caught the details of the lace embellishment was stunning. The morning was full of laughter and emotion, as she got ready with her lovely family, who were there to support her every step of the way.
Speaking of steps, it was time for Molly to walk down the aisle on her Dad’s arm, towards a suitably emotional Jon in his Marc Darcy suit (and very flowery socks!)!
Wedding at Quantock Lakes
The beautifully bright ceremony room makes weddings at Quantock Lakes a pleasure to capture, with sweeping views across the lakes and landscape in the distance. Molly and Jon exchanged their vows surrounded by their family and friends, although I’m not sure they realised anyone else was in the room.
Having the flexibility to move freely around the light and airy room meant I was able to capture all of the important moments, including Molly’s brilliant celebrations after they said, I do!
Next, was a confetti line-up with a difference, as some of their super talented friends had brought along their clubs and were throwing them around as well as handfuls of confetti.
Of course, I had to involve Jon’s juggling balls in the photo of all their guests, we emptied the bag and threw them all in the air. There were some comedy moments as Jon’s Groom-squad threw them into the crowd.
Molly and Jon
As their guests enjoyed some drinks before being called to the wedding breakfast, I took Molly and Jon for a short photo shoot around the lakes and fields. They played and snuggled on the tree swing and wandered through the meadow together hand in hand, before returning to be announced into their wedding breakfast as husband and wife.
With so many performers in the room, the speeches were always going to be brilliant, and they did not disappoint! We laughed, cried, and hugged our way through some emotional words, celebrating the couple and their life together, with Molly and Jon gazing at each other with heart eyes throughout! These two!
Jon’s speech was both touching and hilarious in equal measure, and I’m reliably informed he achieved this “without any help from a team of writers at the BBC”!
Evening games, dancing and doughnuts
Along with plenty of garden games and impromptu acrobatics to keep everyone entertained, Molly and Jon had arranged for the Roving Artist, Charles Burns, to capture the guests in hand-cut silhouettes. I was amazed at his skill; the fine details of each silhouette were so accurate!
Molly changed into a shorter evening dress ahead of capturing golden hour photos, and a little bit of first dance practice overlooking the fields (which of course involved some daring lifts and spins… I expected nothing less!).
To my delight, Molly and Jon had a tower of doughnuts from Crosstown in place of a wedding cake. Although ‘cutting the cake’ proved to be a hilarious challenge, it was just another part of the day that showed their fun personalities and total connection as a couple.
The dance floor filled as Agent Funk provided the evening soundtrack, shots were downed, shoes were kicked off, and everyone partied the night away, stopping only to refuel with some yummy Philps Famous Pasties. Their first dance was never going to be an awkward waddle, and their choreographed set culminated with an incredible spin, with Molly holding onto her husband with her legs!
I had a blast joining Molly and Jon as their Quantock Lakes wedding photographer, and our paths have already crossed again at one of Jon’s shows in Bristol. Thank you for trusting me to capture your day!
